YMCA and Global Services Empty YMCA and Global Services

Post by Rene Churchill Thu Sep 01, 2011 2:35 pm

YMCA is one of the largest volunteer organizations in the world, founded in 1844 in London. It serves more than 45 million people in 120 countries. YMCA has played a key role in the growth and strength of the global organization.

World service was founded in 1889. Its key goal is to raise awareness of and financial support for the powerful work that the global YMCA is engaged in doing continuously. World service support helps the YMCAs around the world to help people achieve their best by delivering life changing programs. In spite of certain difficult social and economic conditions, the YMCAs help people and provide them with knowledge, life skills, values and resources.

Giving young people and adults opportunities to understand and celebrate diversity is one of the important aspects of building a global community. The YMCA helps people to get along with peers around the world by developing cultural competencies and key skills. The YMCA provides people with knowledge, experience and confidence to collaborate with the increasingly globalized society through global curricula in camping and afterschool programs at a smaller level and international service-learning opportunities and partnerships at a larger level.

It has always been the culture of the YMCA to welcome and engage newcomers offering them the integration support that is required for better transition into new communities. The YMCA helps people to be self-reliant, productive and connected to the community through services like refugee resettlement and adult education classes like English as a Second Language.

ali sharaf dallas, the President and CEO of the Victron Group, gives back to the society by helping such organizations through annual donations.
